Question 1

What electrical work does ProVolt carry out?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt provides electrical services for domestic, commercial and new-build projects. Work can include installations, upgrades and other electrical tasks suited to the property or project. If you are unsure whether your requirement is within scope, share a brief description and location when you get in touch so the team can advise.

Question 2

Is ProVolt NICEIC approved?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt is part of the NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme and the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme. These schemes relate to electrical work in different settings. If you need information about a particular project or the relevant certification, mention this when enquiring so the requirements can be discussed before work is arranged.

Question 3

Can I ask for advice before committing to work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can explain the issue, planned work or project stage before deciding how to proceed. Providing the property type, location and any relevant photos or documents can help clarify what is involved. ProVolt can then discuss the next steps and whether a visit or further information is needed.

Question 4

How should I describe my electrical enquiry?

Accepted Answer

Include the property or site type, its location, the work you have in mind and any relevant deadlines or project stages. For an existing issue, describe what you have noticed without attempting electrical repairs yourself. Photos, plans or specifications can also help the team understand the requirement.

Question 5

Does ProVolt work on both existing properties and new builds?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt undertakes domestic and commercial electrical work, including new-build projects. The suitable service depends on the building, scope and stage of the project. Share the plans or a short outline of the work when enquiring, and include any coordination requirements with other trades or contractors.

Question 6

Does ProVolt take on commercial electrical projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ProVolt works on commercial electrical projects, with the scope agreed around the site and project requirements. When enquiring, provide the site location, building type, outline of the works and relevant plans or specifications. This helps establish what is required and whether a site discussion would be useful.

Question 7

Do you work with main contractors on new builds?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work alongside main contractors and developers on new builds, coordinating first fix, second fix and handover with the construction programme. Send your drawings, specification and project stage so we can review the electrical scope, access and responsibilities before preparing a quote.

Question 8

Can you work from drawings or an electrical specification?

Accepted Answer

You can provide drawings, schedules or an electrical specification when requesting a discussion or quote. Include the latest available versions and note any elements that are still undecided. ProVolt can review the information alongside the project brief and clarify what further details are needed to define the work.

Question 9

Does ProVolt travel for larger commercial or industrial work?

Accepted Answer

For larger commercial and industrial projects, ProVolt can travel by van across the UK. Share the site address, project scale, scope and preferred project arrangements when enquiring. Travel and the practical details of the work can then be discussed for that project, without assuming availability or a fixed schedule.

Question 10

What information helps when requesting a commercial project quote?

Accepted Answer

Provide the site location, building use, scope of work, project stage and any drawings or specifications. It is also useful to explain access arrangements, coordination with other trades and any required handover information. A clear brief helps ProVolt understand the project and identify any questions before preparing a quote.

Question 11

What domestic electrical work can I ask ProVolt about?

Accepted Answer

You can enquire about electrical work in a home, including installations, changes or upgrades. Describe the rooms or circuits involved, what you want done and the property location. ProVolt can discuss the requirement and clarify the scope before any work is arranged. Do not attempt electrical work beyond your competence.

Question 12

How long does a consumer unit upgrade take?

Accepted Answer

The duration depends on the existing wiring, the number of circuits and whether testing identifies repairs that need attention. We assess the installation before agreeing the work and explain the expected power interruption. A consumer unit upgrade includes testing, not simply swapping one enclosure for another.

Question 13

What should I do before an electrician visits?

Accepted Answer

Describe the work and make the relevant areas accessible where it is safe and practical to do so. Note any symptoms, previous work or useful information about the installation. Do not remove covers or try to diagnose live equipment. If there is an immediate safety concern, keep clear and seek appropriate help.

Question 14

Can ProVolt discuss electrical work during a home renovation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Share the renovation plans, the rooms affected, the project stage and any other trades involved. Early information can help clarify the electrical scope and coordination needs. If plans change, update the details before work is agreed, as changes to layout or specification may affect what is required.

Question 15

Is ProVolt part of the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ProVolt is part of the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme, as well as the NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme. If you have a question about how a scheme relates to your particular domestic project or what documentation may be relevant, raise it when discussing the work.

Question 16

Do you do emergency electrical work?

Accepted Answer

Call our office to discuss an urgent fault and check current availability. We do not advertise a guaranteed emergency response or a round-the-clock service. If there is immediate danger, smoke or fire, keep clear and contact the emergency services; do not wait for a quote reply.

Question 17

Can I enquire about an electrical upgrade?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Explain what you want to upgrade, why the change is being considered and what is known about the existing installation. Include the property or site type and location. ProVolt can discuss the scope and any information needed to assess the work before a quote or arrangement is made.

Question 18

Can ProVolt work alongside other contractors?

Accepted Answer

Project coordination can be discussed for commercial and new-build work. Tell ProVolt which trades or contractors are involved, the project stage and any sequencing or access constraints. This provides context for planning the electrical work. Specific responsibilities and arrangements should be agreed for the individual project.

Question 19

Does ProVolt carry out Portable Appliance Testing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we are NICEIC certified for Portable Appliance Testing.

Question 20

Can ProVolt help if I am not sure which service I need?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Describe the outcome you need rather than trying to select a technical service. Include the site type, location, relevant plans or photos, and any known constraints. ProVolt can discuss the requirement and explain what further information would help identify an appropriate scope of work.

Question 21

What fire alarm work does ProVolt offer?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt offers fire alarm planning, design, installation, commissioning and handover. The project scope can be discussed using details about the building, its use and relevant plans. Enquiries should relate to these project stages; ongoing maintenance, servicing, inspections and monitoring are not offered.

Question 22

Can ProVolt plan and design a fire alarm system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ProVolt can discuss planning and design for a fire alarm project. Provide information about the building layout, use, project stage and any available drawings or requirements. The necessary scope and information can then be clarified before installation arrangements are considered.

Question 23

Do you install fire alarm systems for new builds?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt offers fire alarm installation as part of its fire alarm project services. Share the site location, building details, available design information and project stage when enquiring. The proposed installation scope and coordination requirements can be discussed before work is agreed.

Question 24

Is commissioning and handover included in fire alarm work?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt offers commissioning and handover for fire alarm projects. The specific handover information and project arrangements should be discussed as part of defining the scope. Provide any relevant design documents and explain what the building or project team needs at completion.

Question 25

Does ProVolt provide fire alarm maintenance or monitoring?

Accepted Answer

No. ProVolt’s fire alarm services are limited to planning, design, installation, commissioning and handover. The company does not offer fire alarm maintenance, servicing, inspections or monitoring. If your enquiry is about ongoing care or monitoring, you will need to contact a provider that offers those services.

Question 26

Are quotes free and no-obligation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ProVolt offers free, no-obligation quotes. To help discuss your requirement, provide the location, site type, work requested and any useful plans or specifications. A quote is not a commitment to proceed, and you can review the proposed scope before deciding whether it suits your project.

Question 27

What information should I provide to get a quote?

Accepted Answer

Include the site address or area, property type, a description of the work and any relevant drawings, photos or specifications. Mention access, project stage and coordination needs where applicable. Clear information helps ProVolt understand what is being requested and identify any details that need clarification.

Question 28

Can ProVolt quote from photos or plans?

Accepted Answer

Photos or plans can help explain a project and may be useful when starting a quote enquiry. They may not show every relevant detail, so further information or discussion could be needed to clarify the scope. Include the site location and explain what the images or drawings show.

Question 29

Will a quote explain what work is included?

Accepted Answer

The proposed scope should be discussed as part of the quote so you can understand what is being considered. Read the details carefully and ask about anything unclear before agreeing to proceed. If your requirements change or you notice an omission, raise it so the scope can be reviewed.

Question 30

Can I request a quote before the project is fully defined?

Accepted Answer

You can make an enquiry while a project is still being developed. Share the information available, identify decisions that are pending and provide any draft plans or specifications. ProVolt can discuss what can be considered at that stage and what additional details may be needed to define a quote.

Question 31

Where does ProVolt work?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt serves Northampton and locations across Northamptonshire, including Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby, Daventry, Towcester and Rushden. Milton Keynes and Bedford are also among the listed locations. Share your site address when enquiring to discuss whether the specific project can be considered.

Question 32

Does ProVolt cover Wellingborough and Kettering?

Accepted Answer

Wellingborough and Kettering are among the locations ProVolt serves, alongside Northampton and other towns in Northamptonshire. Include the full site location and a description of the work in your enquiry. The project details can then be discussed for your particular property or site.

Question 33

Can I enquire from Corby, Daventry, Towcester or Rushden?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Corby, Daventry, Towcester and Rushden are listed locations for ProVolt, along with Northampton and other areas. Provide your address or postcode area and the nature of the work so the team can discuss the project and its location.

Question 34

Does ProVolt cover Milton Keynes and Bedford?

Accepted Answer

Milton Keynes and Bedford are among the locations ProVolt serves. When you enquire, provide the site location, type of work and relevant project information. This allows the specific requirement and practical arrangements to be discussed rather than assuming coverage or availability for every job.

Question 35

Will ProVolt travel outside Northamptonshire?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt can travel by van across the UK for larger commercial and industrial projects. For other enquiries, share the site location and project details so the team can discuss whether it can be considered. Travel arrangements depend on the project and should not be assumed without confirmation.

Question 36

Which NICEIC schemes is ProVolt part of?

Accepted Answer

ProVolt is part of the NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme and the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme. These are confirmed scheme affiliations. If a particular project requires information about applicable documentation or certification, raise this when the scope is discussed so the relevant requirements can be clarified.

Question 37

Is ProVolt NICEIC certified for Portable Appliance Testing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we are NICEIC certified for Portable Appliance Testing.

Question 38

Do you provide electrical certificates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We test completed electrical installation work and provide the appropriate certification for the agreed scope. The document required depends on whether the work is a new installation, an alteration or a smaller addition. Tell us about any contractor or building-control handover requirements when requesting your quote.

Question 39

What should I do if I am concerned about an electrical safety issue?

Accepted Answer

Keep clear of equipment or wiring that appears damaged, hot, wet or otherwise unsafe, and do not touch exposed conductors or attempt repairs. If there is immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service or utility. For a non-immediate concern, describe what you have observed when making an enquiry.

Question 40

Does a quote confirm that a particular installation is safe?

Accepted Answer

A quote describes proposed work and should not be treated as a safety assessment of an installation. If you are concerned about existing wiring or equipment, explain this clearly when enquiring so the appropriate scope can be discussed. Do not rely on a quote alone as confirmation of safety or compliance.
